You won't like it but La Liga is better than Premier League - By Keshkan

First of all, get used to my blogging style where I don't use fancy words from the dictionary to make it look better and always I talk more substance in my own direct, outspoken way. I am not your conventional blogger is what I will be repeating again and again. I don't care about punctuations (well, only a little bit) in grammar and I am certainly not obsessive about it.I believe I am decent enough in my grammar to write an article on a topic I know well. I am not someone who writes a 400 word article using 300 fancy words where the more "intellectual" you sound, the better it is. So many times,it isn't even properly understood by the reader. I believe if one can be understood clearly in any language, that's enough.I always like to keep it simple and be straight to the point. Please look at VVS Laxman's articles in Times of India or read his autobiography, its a classic example of this simplistic style of writing but I certainly understood that way better than the so called "intellectual" articles of Suresh Menon for Hindu where my head felt dizzy after reading them. But this doesn't make me immune to criticism and I know a lot needs to be improved with my writing. I just hope you enjoy what I have wrote or in case you don't, you can always give me feedback.I also love to disagree with people as long as it is in a healthy manner (I'm expecting a lot of disagreements from this).

So, I just missed the derby in Wanda accidentally and I was told that I didn't miss much, truth to be told, after watching the highlights I did miss much. I saw the action and I was mesmerised by the quality of the match. Yes, there were no goals but still there was some quality football. I saw Kroos being way more positive than he actually is, Oblak making some tremendous saves, Casemiro and Thomas were simply outstanding shoring the backline. The Managing Madrid podcast guys said they had a blast at Wanda. So I assume it was a way better game than what people think and also the happier side will be Real Madrid, a golden point away from home against a title contender. And on a completely unrelated note, an assist from the best gk in the world - Ter Stegen. The best Forward, Midfielder and Goalkeeper all play in La Liga and how dare you call it a "farmers league"?

Okay lets move on to the actual content for the topic...... I have been watching La Liga on and off for almost 10 years now. I have always found it more exciting than Premier League. It is easier on the eye with the fluid passes of teams, faster dribbling and a sharp eye for the goal whereas PL I have noticed play more long balls, more physical and tactical but its more story lined based... what I mean by that is that it is the most popular league in the world with almost every club thoroughly analyzed by pundits and fans across the world. Liga has missed that with some mediocre marketing and poor scheduling. What I assume from this is that the more you invest on marketing, the better it seems. I would prefer to watch Betis v Sociedad over Wolves v Watford but on the flip side, some of the top class players actually play in mid table PL teams. This is simply because of the financial power and the TV rights deal being more equally distributed in England and also being helped by the fact that these mid table teams suck points out of the top teams (PL fans are so proud of that and start boasting that it is something unique when these same narrow-minded fans who call La Liga a "Farmers League" can't seem to digest the fact that the same things happen in a better way with Liga).

For those who call La Liga, "a 2 horse race" are also pretty narrow minded because apart from the Top 3 teams, all the other Europa league-4th place CL spot floundering teams are one of the toughest to beat both away and home because of they are always are very attacking, positive from the start no matter who the opposition is. I also bet you that if La Liga is given the coverage which Serie A on Sony is being given currently with a decent amount of punditry and analysis,it won't be popular than Premier League but it would be pretty close or better when it goes to Star Sports.

By my logic, I can also make a case saying that Copa America is better than Euros. Well Euro once again wins in popularity but the last one I watched was one of the most boring tournaments ever in history of football. Compare that to Copa America where goals were free flowing and not much tactical nous was there,it was way more entertaining.

Athletic, Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Granada are playing a superb brand of football and yielding positive results whereas at the same time Tottenham and United who are actually considered title contenders in PL are dwindling with a boring style of football which is very helpful in putting people to sleep. I would like to make some positive comment on PL by saying that my 3 best teams in PL - City, Liverpool and Arsenal are playing some good wonderful football. Look the recognition they are getting!! (okay maybe not Arsenal if they lost at Old Trafford tomorrow although they go 3rd if they win).

I would like to conclude by saying that I always prefer fluid passing, attacking and attractive football over long balls, physicality and at times some snoozefest matches (like the Champions Final this year with Liverpool and Tottenham) in the PL. The 10 min highlights I watched wasn't by any means a snoozefest.

I could add more points when the disagreements come, its easier that way... to counter an argument rather write an explanation. I felt this way when I wrote my mini-thesis earlier this year hahaha.

I hope you enjoy the group of All Sport and the content there.

A superb week of All Sport is coming with Barça v Inter, Tottenham v Bayern, Sevilla v Barça, Inter v Juventus, Ind v SA 1st Test plus Smackdown Live first episode of Fox on Friday. Enjoy your midweek festivities..
